Saint Louis Mental Health Board

Founded in 1994, Saint Louis MHB is an independent government taxing authority responsible for managing two special property taxes: the Community Mental Health Fund and the Community Children’s Services Fund. These tax dollars are allocated to non-profit organizations that deliver high-quality services to benefit City residents. MHB enhances the quality of life in St. Louis by investing in a coordinated system of behavioral health services that align with community needs.

Funding is provided through various avenues, including competitive grants, investment managers, funding partnerships, permanent supportive housing, and strategic initiatives. MHB supports over 45 non-profit service providers to ensure that more high-quality, accessible services are available to City residents. MHB envisions a future where strong provider-funder partnerships drive meaningful, lasting, positive change in the St. Louis region.
