DOORWAYS

For 36 years, DOORWAYS has focused on assisting the unhoused and those at risk of homelessness, while addressing HIV and other chronic illnesses.

We own nine buildings with 230 units offering assistive, flexible, and permanent housing. Additionally, we provide over 80 emergency accommodations nightly and allocate over $3 million annually for rent and utility assistance to prevent homelessness.

Our approach combines housing with essential services to stabilize food security, healthcare, income, education, and community support—key social determinants of health (SDOH). To strengthen these factors, we built the Jefferson Avenue Campus, which integrates housing with comprehensive onsite services. This includes a provisions pantry, behavioral health counseling, psychiatric care, job training, and self-development programs. Next year, we'll also introduce an independent pharmacy and community health testing for HIV/STIs.

Our housing programs, paired with a full range of services, directly reduce homelessness among individuals living with HIV by addressing resource gaps and supporting housing stability. By improving health and managing medication regimens, we help clients achieve undetectable and untransmittable HIV status, thereby reducing new infections and preventing further homelessness.

The Continuum of Care (CoC) enhances our success through collaboration and shared resources. Membership allows us to access McKinney-Vento funding through a unified grant application, strengthening our collective impact. We value our CoC partnership and are committed to its continued success.
